I am an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, and I’ve been in solo practice since 2008. From the start, I chose to remain out-of-network, as in-network reimbursements often make it impossible to maintain a low-volume, high-quality practice.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I handled my own billing and appeals; however, post-2020, my reimbursements dropped drastically due to the No Surprises Act (NSA).
